Can someone please point out the irony of this statement by the Pope?
VATICAN CITY, March 16 (Reuters) - Pope Benedict called on Catholics to examine whether worldly desires had corrupted their faith, as he commemorated Palm Sunday before a crowd waving palm fronds and olive branches.
"Is our faith pure and open enough?" asked the Pope, seated on a dais in front of St. Peter's basilica, wearing red, gold and white vestments. "Do we perhaps let idols, through various means, enter in the world of our faith?"

Bookworm679, I'm sorry but if you have people waving palm branches at you and praying to you while you are wearing golden robes, you are an Idol. You may not worship the Pope, but many people do. Don't deny it.
WOW. Do you think he really has no idea about what he is saying and where he is sitting? I think he does. He is not my Father and don't need him to bless anything or confess to him or any priest. He is an idol. My Father is in heaven. He is everything perfect and pure and the object of my faith is in what Jesus did on the Cross. The Catholic religion is all about idol worship and works. I know, I came out of it into Christianity.
