Are Catholics also frauds and charlatans?
If traditional healers and withcdoctors are frauds and charlatans and if, as in Britain recently, psychics and mediums are to come under scrutiny for the promises and claims they make- where does that leave other religions? This is not an attack on Catholicism per se, but what about the claims that Catholicism makes?
Wine becoming blood?
Bread becoming flesh?
Miraculous medals, holy relics and divine cures at places like Lourdes?
Can we or even, ought we, apply the same standards to any religion that makes "promises"?
As one answerer pointed out, I should also include the Evangelical faith healers, reiki practicioners, all that Zen-Meditation-Healing stuff.... Catholicism comes to mind because of all the miracles and relics...I was not singling out the religion alone....
To me, everything (the religions and faiths) all have one thing in common, power over man / mankind, like ruling political parties.
The truths and validity of these these miraculous claims are for the most part psycho somatic.
So to answer the question, YES. On the other hand, I do believe that there are powers out there that warrant these claims. It is us that need to distinguish between them, the rights from wrongs and the negatives and positives.
I do believe the is a God and there was a Jesus Christ. God being the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. It is rather simple, Whatever the beginning was, was God and whatever the end is, is going to be is God. We have just chosen to to give this .... Theory/phenomenon/mystery .... a name hence "GOD"
By this understanding all religions, faiths and theories are explained and can be all true and work coherently, obviously eliminating the emphasis on that interpretation conveniently imposed to gain power of man, for personal gain.
