bible multiple translations

Multiple translation bible students, what is your impression of the Watchtower New World Translation ?
Does it seem biased to you ?
I was just reading it !
Not pleasant for me I might add !
Psalm 83:18 Being the standard proof text for JWs changing the bible translations
Dekay, I the NWT deliberately has changed the context of meaning to suit the Watchtowers Teachings !
We will see how things turn out !
The truth that sets men free is Jesus Himself.
John 14:6 (New International Version)
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
The local JW place was across the road from where I lived (before I moved), and my fiancee and I invited them in to talk. My fiancee was a new Christian, while I have a degree in theology.
It turned out to be quite interesting! They were a lovely couple, and very passionate about their beliefs and mission. I would bring out my Bibles, study versions of the NRSV and NIV, as well as some others, and he (I studied with the man, and my fiancee with his wife) his version. I asked about the differences, and he showed them to me. They are actually few in number, and differ only by a few words at most. However, the sense of things does change, sometimes quite dramatically from these small differences. E.g., they do not believe Jesus as God - they are not Trinitarian (which is why they are not considered Christian by others, although they do themselves).
He defended the scholarship of the translation. I looked into it, and discovered that the team was fairly small, and did not have access to the widest variety of extant original sources. I compared this to the extensive teams that produced other modern Bibles, like the NRSV and NIV in particular. In the "two heads are better than one" mode, I think the NRSV and NIV are therefore much more accurate translations. There are differences amongst all translations, bu the New World version is the only one that has the particular differences that it does. This to me makes them very suspect.
For example: the French "un garcon" could mean "one boy" or "a boy." You could expect to see either used, depending on the translators, and how they chose to phrase the words keeping the context of the rest of the sentence. But, if you saw "the boy," in only one translation, you would know that while only a subtle change, it could change the meaning. And, as the specific wording appears in only one version, it is likely wrong, or at best, less accurate a translation.
